Daily 5 with the Sisters

Greetings from Seattle everyone! Today was Day 1 with Gail and Joan. Can I just say I am so glad that I flew here with my grade level partner and good friend Jessica!! We are having a blast! We came a few days early so we could do a little sight seeing before the workshop. I was a little nervous because  I had read their books and dabbled in Daily 5 off and on for the past few years, but Jessica hadn't. I just thought it would be a great opportunity for her since she was moving up to second with me. Let's be honest...I thought it would be a great opportunity for me as well, so I convinced her to go with me. Anyways, back to the workshop!!!

Joan and Gail were awesome. They went through the research behind Daily 5, explained all of the components, and explained how things had changed since they first wrote the book. They were quite funny too! Joan had a good sense of humor and was very spunky. I loved how she was quite honest about the job of a teacher. Gail was witty too. They definitely kept my interest the entire time.

Here I am in the middle with Gail and Joan. I told them that many of my fellow bloggers had started book studies on the Daily 5, so I needed my picture with them because I wanted to share it on my new blog!! Gail even asked what the name of my blog was. She wrote it down, and I must admit I hope she becomes a follower. Joan said she was a follower of Mel D. over at Suesstastic. I thought it was so cool that they follow teacher blogs too!

Tomorrow...acutally in 7 hours I will be back at the Hotel Murano to hear all about The Cafe. This is what I am most looking forward to...the strategies for reading. I know there is so much more to share. I will regroup after tomorrow's workshop so I can share some insight on both Daily 5 and Cafe now that I have heard the "Sisters" live.
