Most of my stuff I have on my desktop computer as well, but lately I have been taking the laptop to bed with me and doing quite a bit of creating. Well, did I learn my lesson. I called my husband (actually texted him a 911)...he was out of town and I needed his opinion. He quickly called me back and said to just get a new one. Don't worry he said...it's really no big deal. NO BIG DEAL!!! He is an amazing husband, but he has no idea how hard I worked on all the "no longer existing documents" I created.
Instead of making a huge spectacle of myself in the Apple Store, I decided to get over it and pick out my new laptop. I went with the new Macbook Pro with no hard drive. I decided not to take my chances of having the hard drive crash again. (I have had Macs all my life and never had any problems with them. This incident was due to an accidental water spillage from a loved one). I had the huge external hard drive that I purchased last month and I also purchased the external drive to play cds. The new MacPro does not have the built in cd player. It also has the retina display and is super fast.
I am going to take my old laptop to a Data Recovery specialist, but in the meantime I have been working on recreating my Fraction Unit. I hope to have it loaded to TPT later this week. Here is a sneak peak of a few things inside of it:
I have many of the new fraction activities ready to go to try with my kids tomorrow. We used a lot of the items from the LOST FRACTION UNIT...so they will be excited to test out some of the new additions. I would love to give a free copy of the unit to one of my followers. All you have to do is let me know what grade you teach and one fun thing you do with your students when you teach fractions. Please leave your email address too. I will have my husband pick the lucky comment number Monday night!!
Have a fantastic Monday!! I only have 5 days until Spring Break...Woohoo!!!
I always do a pizza craft to teach fractions!

Christa, I feel your PAIN!!!! I know words cannot describe what you are going through... about a year ago my jump drive crashed without warning! I FREAKED!!!! I just couldn't believe that years of work was gone in an instant. To this day I am reminded of "that day" when a colleague asks me for a parent letter we've used in the past and I know it was on the Jump Drive that crashed. Needless to say, lesson learned and I now have an external hardrive that I backup at home regularly.
ReplyDeleteHang in there... my prayers are with you!
