It's All About Super Heroes!!

So I survived my first full week of school! We actually have been in school for 8 days, but the first week we didn't have kids until Wednesday. I literally was wiped out by Friday. It's not like I slept in til noon everyday on summer break...  So most of my weekend was pretty nonproductive. I got sucked back into Lifetime TV and all the crazy movies on there. They are always about a love gone bad or  a jealous boyfriend/girlfriend.  I know...cheesy, but I kept watching one right after the other. 

 I have the same group of kids this year since I looped with my first graders to second. They are an amazing bunch of kids.  I must say they were a little more chatty on the first day then a normal first day of school because they were all so familiar with each other. It's going to be a great year!!!

Since I have them again I had to change my classroom theme. Last year we had a ROCKSTAR theme. They were begging me towards the end of school to tell them what are new theme was going to be, but I told them they had to be surprised. I even got texts over the summer and puppy dog eyed pictures begging me to tell them the new theme. LOL!! But I held out and they sure were surprised on the first day of school when they walked into their Super Hero classroom.

A dad in my class made this for me. I told him what I wanted and this is the
hit of the classroom. That's my classroom phone inside. I also have 2 capes
hung up in the right corner. The kids love to wear them during Read to Self.

We just did the coolest art project on Friday. We made our own super heroes. Look at how cute they turned out. 

I laugh every time I look at them. I was going to put up pictures of super heroes so they had something to look at, but I forgot. This is what they came up with all on their own. I thought they were each so creative on how they decorated their super hero. I am just finishing up on this small  super hero unit. I have a couple of different writing prompts  included inside. There is also all the patterns to make the super hero. It was so much fun!!

Back to School Sale

Happy Saturday morning to everyone!! So the school nightmares continue!! Two nights ago I had a dream that I got lice. I was infested and I was freaking out in my dream!! When I woke up it was one of those dreams that seemed so real that I actually had to think for a while...do I really have lice?

Happy almost Friday! I thought it was time for a little giveaway since  many of us have already started preparing for going back to school and a few are already back. I go back on August 11th and I have already started having dreams nightmares about school. Why does this happen?? It's like my brain and body are gearing up or shutting down. LOL!!

I did a little updating to three of my fun Back to School themed art projects and writing units. I would love to give 2 of each away since I am looping back to second grade. 

Each one comes with the patterns to make the people and several different writing prompts with themed paper.

Have You Seen This????

Have you ever seen this commercial? 

I don't know what it is about this video, but it cracks me up. It has become a funny saying/joke with my husband and close friends. We total crack up! Yes, some of you may be thinking...ok not so much, but it makes me giggle.

So imagine what happens when I am with my husband and friends ordering breakfast and I ask for a diet coke and the waitress brings me this...

I started laughing so hard!! Is that hysterical??? Have you seen these sayings on the Diet Coke cans? They have people's names and sayings on the side of the can. What a creative marketing idea!! I am a huge Diet Coke drinker and I thought how fun to have a can with my name on it. My second graders would think I was so cool. Of course, Christa is not one of the names on the can. I googled the website and learned that you can find out where the Share a Coke Tour is and go get a can made, but of course it is no where near me. So instead the waitress found me an unopened Go-Getter can and I am taking it home with me.

New Theme for the New School Year!!

I can not believe it is already July 10th...school starts August 13th!! AAHHHHH!! Why does summer have to go so fast??

I have decided to do a superhero theme this year. I am really excited. I have purchased a few cool things, but I am still working on how it is all going to be decorated so the kids actually feel their part of a superhero atmosphere. A really good friend made me these amazing new curtain valences!! I can't wait to put them up!!

 Here is a picture of the fabric. See how bright the blue is?? That's actually what the curtains look like!!

I also found the clock and the Superhero rules poster. Love them both!! I have the poster in the frame to flatten it out. I am going to mount it so it has a border before I hang it up.

I have been creating a few things to use for binders, name tags, etc. I am trying to decide on covers for their daily binders. Which do you like??
